​Introducing “Small Flame,” the enchanting debut solo album from jazz singer and songwriter Nel Begley. This captivating collection of songs has a sound reminiscent of Chet Baker's easy style and Norah Jones songwriting, creating a contemplative and playful listening experience.

 

Recorded during the third trimester of her pregnancy, “Small Flame” showcases Begley’s artistry and resilience, offering listeners a glimpse into the creative process of a dedicated musician balancing the joys of motherhood and art. 

 

‘Small Flame’s charm lies in its various ensemble combinations throughout the album, each arrangement highlighting the character of the musicians. Featuring an impressive lineup: Paul Edis - piano, Luke Fowler - bass, Honey Boulton - guitar, James Law - drums, Harry Brunt - saxophone.

 

“Small Flame” was recorded at Red Gable Studios in London by Richard Hamnet, with mixing and mastering by Brodie Stewart, based in Perth.
